TaylorMade R7 Limited Driver Review

TaylorMade R7 Limited Driver Review

THE NEW R7 LIMITED DRIVER IS NOT YOUR OLD SUPERQUAD!!

I JUST WAS ABLE TO DEMO THE NEW TaylorMade R7 Limited Driver.  I HIT THE 9.5 LOFTED R7 LIMITED CLUB OUTSIDE WHICH IS THE TRUE TEST TO SEE HOW IT FLIES.  THE FIRST THING THAT I NOTICED WAS HOW FLUID THE SHAFT FELT AT CONTACT.  TAYLORMADE PUT IN THE MATRIX XCON 5.5 MOI SHAFT AND IN A STIFF FLEX IT FELT LIKE I WAS NOT EVEN MAKING HITTING IT HARD AND THE BALL HAD THE PERFECT BALL FLIGHT.  I HAVE NEVER BEEN TOO MUCH OF A FAN OF THE MOVABLE WEIGHTS IN DRIVERS BUT IN THE NEUTRAL SETTING IT REALLY HAD A NICE BALL FLIGHT.  THE R7 LIMITED ALSO HAS THE INVERTED CONE TECHNOLOGY THAT HAS MADE SOME TAYLORMADE IRONS VERY POPULAR.  THE DRIVER WAS ABOUT A HALF INCH LONG BECAUSE IT COMES STANDARD AT 45.5 INCHES.  I PREFER A 45 INCH DRIVER BECAUSE LONGER THAN THAT AND I START TO LOSE CONTROL.  I REALLY BELIEVE THAT CUSTOMERS ARE GOING TO FIND THIS DRIVER TO BE SOMETHING THAT MIGHT BE WORTH SHELLING OUT SOME CASH FOR.  IF YOU ARE A FAN OF TAYLORMADE IT WILL BE TOUGH TO DECIDE BETWEEN THE R7 LIMITED AND THE NEW BURNER DRIVER BUT TOO MANY CHOICES IS NEVER A BAD THING!!

Wow sounds like taylor-made stepped it up! Looks like I’m going to have to give this guy a try.

I just demoed a new r7 limited 9.5 and wow! I was hitting the ball a good 25 yds farther than with my Callaway. I will be getting one.

I have just purchased one of these amazing drivers in a 10.5 S-flex. As soon as you hold the driver in your hands it feels confident and extremely well balanced with its Matrix shaft. In the last year i have bought 3 drivers; the R7 Draw, the Tour Burner and now the R7 Limited. I purchased my club from Drummond Golf and was fitted using their “ClubFit” technology. I was hitting my Tour Burner 226meters according to their computers… the pro then handed me the R7 Limited and the first ball i hit travelled 267meters!!! Over 10 balls I averaged 254meters. The clubs MWT is simple and can be changed in seconds and I will not be surprised if this club comes up trumps in the 2009 Golf Digests Hot List. If you get a chance… make sure you have a swing of this club!!! Thumbs up, from me.

I recently bought this driver off Ebay with the cheaper Graphite Design YSQ shaft. I’ve played both TM Burners, and the Superquad. All are great. This R7 Limited feels a little longer and it’s as easy to hit as the Burners. But it sure ain’t twice as good as the Burner, for the money. TM knows there are guys like me chasing technology, and have probably put a new driver out just since I started this post. They’ve put out at least 10 different drivers in the last 2-3 years. They make every other company try and keep up with them. But I would rather they wait a couple of years until they come up with something really better before spewing another clone into the market place. With the economy going south, my guess is they won’t be selling many $500 drivers for long.

I am a high handicapper (28 handicap) who has had erratic results in the past with driving. My last driver was a Taylormade 360. With the 360 I would either hit the ball a mile (actually about 270-280 yrds) or terribly. I just purchased the R7 Limited driver last week.

    This driver is AMAZING.

The ball sound off the club is like a gun going off and the ball flight is incredible. I hit more good drives than I ever have in any game before and lowered my score by 6 strokes over my normal game. I bought the R7 Limited with a stiff shaft and 10.5 degrees loft. For my swing, the ball trajectory is really high with a slight draw at the end (with neutral set-up on the weights) and most of the distance was from carry (vs a lot more roll distance with my old 360).

I would recommend the R7 limited and especially at the low price you can get it for now (its a steal!!).

Brilliant driver…….I got a 10.5% off my pro. it was his old one as he moved to the r9 ( too much trickery with that club I feel) and I am hitting the ball farther and straighter…the sound is super and its a real looker aswell. The only small issue I have is hearing the club on the back swing due to the weight holes………your partners will hear it too but its kinda cool, especially when you hit a big one!

I just bought the r7 limited last week. I played it for the first time on saturday. It is a great driver. The sound and ball flight are great. I gained about 20 yards with it. The best part is that I hit 11 fairways on Saturday with it. The ball goes straighter and further. 100% satisfied. I was hitting an r7 425 before. I recommend it to anyone.
