Nike’s new Limited Edition VR PRO woods are slated to hit the door in November and we expect the demand for them to be very high! This limited run of woods is sure to be a hit and it is the 3rd generation of the Victory Red lineup. Thankfully, Nike dropped the Str8-Fit option from this year’s VR line which will once again give these clubs a more traditional feel and look at address. However after hitting a demo fairway wood that our rep dropped off, it was clear that the performance was far from traditional. The ball exploded off of the forged titanium face and produced a very high, yet flat trajectory that was easy to control. The VR Pro Limited Edition Fairway Wood comes stock with a Diamana Ahina graphite shaft and the club is offered in 15* and 19*. Nike is getting ready to launch the new Victory Red series and I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the entire lineup last week. The driver is stunning and I was equally impressed with the new VR PRO Fairway Wood. The VR PRO is a revised version of last year’s Victory Red Fairway Wood and although they may look fairly similar, the performance of the VR PRO is above and beyond the previous model. A new Variable Compression Channel gives golfers increased carry yardage off of the tee and delivers a powerful feel at impact. This new version also includes Nike’s patented Str8t-FIT technology which provides 32 options to personalize your club face angle for a customized fit. The VR PRO comes stock with the premium Project X graphite shaft and the club is offered in lofts ranging from 13* to 19* of loft. Pre-order your new Nike fairway wood today!
So far, I have been very impressed with the new Nike SQ Machspeed line of clubs. From driver to pitching wedge, the SQ Machspeeds over deliver in terms of playability, feel, and forgiveness. The SQ Machspeed Fairway Wood is a club I initially overlooked, but at a recent demo day, I gave it a second chance and boy, I am glad I did! For starters, this high MOI fairway wood sets up great at address. The face is not overly shut and the compact, square shape frames the ball perfectly. After a few bad swings, I was surprised a club this size could be this forgiving. (more…)
