The Best Place I’ve Ever Golfed… Part 2 of a Budget Golf Community Series

March 21st, 2016

The Best Place I've Ever GolfedEvery golfer has that one place. Maybe it wasn’t your first choice, or maybe it’s a course you’ve dreamt of playing since the very beginning… but this was it. The best place you’ve ever golfed. You threw your clubs in the trunk and left there, vowing to be back, no matter what it took.

We posed the question to our loyal Facebook followers, and they responded in astounding numbers… places in their own town, to courses clear around the world. We have sorted through them, have done our research, and are bringing them to you five at a time.

We hope you enjoy dreaming with us, and perhaps you’ll find a new best place of your own!

First up this month is Cypress Point, located in Pebble Beach, CA

the best place i've ever golfedCypress Point Club was designed by Alister MacKenzie and opened in 1928. It was once a co-host for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, formerly The Bing Crosby Tournament, last doing so in 1991. Cypress Point also hosted the only Walker Cup on California soil in 1981. Cypress is ranked #2 in Golf Magazine’s list of “Top 100 Golf Courses in the World,” behind Mackenzie’s other masterpiece, Augusta. Cypress Point will always have its place in the upper echelon of golf history.

Regarded as the most exclusive course in the world, it is virtually impossible to play a round unless you are invited by a member. The club decides the cost of yearly membership fees by equally dividing the total operating expenses amongst all members. Each member of the club is required to pay the same amount in dues, regardless of the amount of play or the number of visits to the club.

Torrey Pines, La Jolla, CA
Torrey Pines Golf CourseLocated in La Jolla (pronounced “la hoya”), California, Torrey Pines Golf Course sits on the coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and is recognized as the premier municipal golf course owned and operated by a city. It is named after the Torrey Pine, a rare tree that grows in the wild only along this local stretch of the coastline in San Diego County and on Santa Rosa Island.

It offers two picturesque and, due to its yearly hosting of the PGA TOUR’s Farmers Insurance Open event, widely recognizable championship 18-hole golf courses. It is surely the most accessible public facility for the die-hard enthusiast wishing to play at a world-renown facility that nearly all golfers know by name.

Torrey Pines was the site of perhaps the most memorable modern day U.S. Open Championship, when in 2008, under the typically brutal conditions of this major tournament, injured and hobbling Tiger Woods defeated Rocco Mediate during their sudden death playoff after 90 grueling holes of exciting golf.

Spyglass Hill, Pebble Beach, CA

Spyglass Hill Golf CourseSpyglass Hill Golf Course takes its theme from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel, Treasure Island, published in 1883. Local legend maintains that Stevenson once wandered the Spyglass area gathering ideas for his novels. With this in mind, Robert Trent Jones Sr. set about creating a treasure of his own.
Opened in 1966, Spyglass Hill Golf Course features two distinctly different kinds of terrain that influence the way the holes look and play. The first five holes roll through sandy seaside dunes challenging you to carefully pick the safest path. The following 13 holes are cut through majestic pines with elevated greens and strategically placed bunkers and lakes to grab the errant shot. Hole names such as “Black Dog” and “Billy Bones” are hints for the unwary.

Spyglass Hill Golf Course is rated one of the toughest courses in the world from the Championship tees, boasting a course rating of 75.5 and a slope rating of 144. The PGA TOUR consistently lists Spyglass Hill holes 6, 8 and 16 among the toughest on the TOUR, and during the 1999 United States Amateur, the stroke average of the field during medal play was in excess of 79.

Westmoreland Golf Course, Barbados

Westmoreland Golf CourseImprove your golf game at Royal Westmoreland. Reduce your handicap as you test yourself on our par 72, 7,045-yard course designed by acclaimed course designer, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Work on your stroke play on the superbly maintained, perfectly considered fairways and greens that surround the estate.

Enjoy the Caribbean sunshine and clear blue skies. Take in the breathtaking views, thriving greenery and flourishing tropical landscape. Line up your putt as the ocean washes up on the not-so-distant shoreline. Perfect.

The golf course is as enjoyable as it is demanding. You’ll find a mixture of short holes, with a challenging back nine preceded by tricky greens on the front.

Royal Westmoreland is a private estate with golfing access only available to villa owners or rental guests, unless special access is granted by appointment.

Pine Dunes Resort and Golf Club, Frankston, TX
Pine Dunes Golf CourseCarved through majestic, century old pine trees with contoured fairways & rolling terrain, Pine Dunes provides the most peaceful setting you’ll find for a world-class round of golf. The Championship, Par 72 Layout is tucked away in the Piney Woods of East Texas, heralded as one of the best courses in America.

With the determination of Owners Jodi Lutz and Scott Miller, and World-Renowned Golf Course Architects Jay & Carter Morrish, Pine Dunes was crafted into a golfer’s dream getaway, inviting golfers to experience top quality golf & conditions for as little as $59/round.

Pine Dunes is a spectacular, 4.5 Star Rated Championship Golf Course open year-round, designed by legendary & world renowned architects Jay & Carter Morrish. You’ll quickly understand why respected golf magazines & critics have presented Pine Dunes with dozens of Awards, and we invite you to experience a golf getaway deep in the heart of Texas.

A variety of packages are available to each player including daily-fee play, stay-n-play weekend getaways and large group outings. Spacious, comfortable overnight accommodations in guest condominiums can be reserved for your foursome or a group as large as 40 players.

Where was the best place YOU’VE played? Stop by our Facebook page and let us know… you may find it here next month!

The Best Place I’ve Ever Golfed

If you’ve ever watched The Food Network, you may be familiar with one of their highest rated series: “The Best Thing I Ever Ate”. Famous chefs describe, in detail, their favorite menu item from relatively unknown establishments around the world. We went to our Budget Golf community and posed a similar question: “What is the best place you’ve ever golfed?” Responses have been flooding in, and we will be sharing them with you over the next few months… stay tuned!

Green Valley Golf Course in Zanesville, OH

The Best Place I've Ever Golfed

Green Valley

“My favorite golf course is Green Valley Golf Course in Zanesville, Ohio. It is definitely not one of the premier golf courses around my area but it has something a lot of the others don’t. A place where anyone is welcome, Especially families. It is a par 59 course where kids can learn the game and everyone can have fun without being pushed along. Our kids are the future of golf and places like this are necessary to help make that happen.”

4420 Dresden Rd. Zanesville, OH 43701
740-452-7105

Green Valley Golf Club is Southeastern Ohio’s premiere executive golf course. GVGC features two sets of tees on our Par 59 course with a USGA slope rating of 53.7 from the men’s tees and 54.8 from the women’s tees. Green Valley Golf Club is the only executive short course recognized in the state of Ohio by the United States Golf Association.

Family friendly, GVGC is located at 4420 Dresden Road, just a few minutes from downtown Zanesville. Green Valley Golf Club provides an exceptional opportunity for those golfers just learning the game, women, seniors, and juniors.

Erin Hills Golf Course in Erin, Wisconsin

The Best Place I've Ever Golfed

Erin Hills

The best place that I have ever golfed is Erin Hills in Wisconsin! It’s home to the 2017 US Open and it’s going to be EPIC. Three of my buddies and I made the 4 1/2 hour drive from Indiana last summer for my buddy’s 40th birthday. From the minute you pull into the property you feel like you have warped to a beautiful ranch in the hills of Ireland. The entire property is elegant and well manicured. We were treated like royalty by the staff and had the best caddies you could ask for. Aside from the tall blowing fescue grass lined fairways my favorite part of the round was learning the history of the course from our caddies. I was struggling a bit in the round and my caddie stopped me and pointed out an old bell that was on the course. He explained to me that the clover shaped side mounts of the bell were the inspiration for the course logo. Little did I know he was schooling me on patience as well as course history. I went par, par, birdie, par after his lesson. All and all I would love to go back and face this extremely challenging masterpiece again.”

866-772-4769
Erin Hills is one of only 6 public courses ever awarded the prestige of hosting the U.S. Open!
It has both old-fashioned and modern elements, and was built both to test the very best players in the world and to accommodate comfortably the thousands and thousands of people who will watch them. It was built on topography ideally suited for golf but on soil that is not always ideal for golf. The bunkering includes small, traditional pots and the more fashionable free-form bunkers. It could be the course of the future – a course that borrows the traditional aspects it likes and respects—e.g., the movement of so little earth in its design, and one that was built with many years of championship golf, in terms of both the challenges it presents to the players and its infrastructure, in mind.

Wolf Creek Golf Course in Mesquite, NV

Wolf Creek Golf Course

“Best place ever golfed…..Wolf Creek in Mesquite, NV for sure. Played in Pro-Am with LDA guys. They were awesome and the course, scenery and conditions of fairways and greens were absolutely majestic! Plus I drove the green on the long drive guys on one hole and have pic to prove it! Will for sure go back some day!”

Wolf Creek Golf Club strives to deliver the ultimate golf experience to each and every guest. As you are called to the first tee and look down towards the green, you notice a one of a kind canvas. The detail of the striped emerald green fairway below, lined with brilliant white sand bunkers, you instantly know that Wolf Creek is a special place. After finishing all eighteen holes, you are hard pressed to come up with just one signature hole and more often than not amazed with the picturesque beauty of the course rather than the score you shot.

Since opening in 2000, golfers from all over the world have travelled to Wolf Creek Golf Club in Mesquite, Nevada to experience a one of a kind golf adventure. Wolf Creek is often mentioned as a bucket list course with other courses such as Pebble Beach, Black Wolf Run, and Bandon Dunes. Many major golf publications have ranked Wolf Creek as one of the top public courses in the country. From 2008-2015, Wolf Creek has been a feature course on EA Sports Tiger Woods and the new Rory McIlroy PGA Tour video game. In 2011, Wolf Creek won the prestigious Fan Choice Award naming Wolf Creek the favorite golf course to play by golf fans worldwide.

New for 2016: PING G Drivers

February 16th, 2016

Inspired by an approach called biomimicry, PING engineers analyzed the dragonfly’s intricate wing pattern to design ultra-thin crown sections for extreme CG and maximized MOI.

Features of the PING G Family:

Dragonfly technology

Dragonfly technology

Dragonfly Technology
Ultra-thin sections were created by removing eight grams from the crown to better position the CG for high launch/low spin with a high MOI, adding to forgiveness in the Ti 8-1-1 head.

Vortec Technology
Vortec Technology reduces turbulent wake during the downswing for faster clubhead speed with improved stability and forgiveness to help generate distance.

Variable-Thickness T9 S Face
T9S has a high strength-to-weight ratio, allowing for a thin face to increase ball speed. Removing four grams from the face helps position the CG low/back for ideal launch conditions and extreme forgiveness.

Extreme Low/Back CG
The lowest, deepest CG of any PING driver generates greater distance by increasing dynamic loft and elevating MOI significantly on both axes for maximizing forgiveness.

Simple Adjustability
You can optimize launch conditions prior to a round by adjusting loft up to ±1° with five settings utilizing a lightweight, aerodynamic and high-strength 7075 aluminum hosel sleeve.

Less Drag
Crown turbulators and Vortec Technology contribute to reducing drag 37% through the impact zone, yielding greater clubhead speed and ball velocity for sizeable distance gains from all swing speeds.

To get the most distance from your driver, you must optimize the launch angle and spin rate of the ball by selecting the proper loft and shaft flex for your swing speed. Generally, golfers with slower swing speeds require more-lofted drivers and more-flexible shafts to achieve the proper launch conditions. Conversely, golfers with faster swing speeds generally require lower-lofted drivers and firmer shafts.
We recommend that you get fit for the shaft that allows you to play your best golf. Whether that’s a softer, lighter shaft with a higher launch or a heavier, stiffer shaft with a lower trajectory, a PING Certified Club Fitter can help you find the shaft that brings consistency to your game. Please refer to the chart in the detailed images above to help find your best shaft flex option.
Grip: PING 5L Round Grip – The 5L grip features a firmer texture in the upper portion to help control direction and a softer texture in the lower portion for enhanced feel. It is available in two versions – round for clubs with PING’s Trajectory Tuning+ Technology, and ribbed for the hybrids and irons.
“PING strongly believes that customers should be custom fit before purchasing PING Golf Clubs”

Cobra King LTD Driver

Cobra King LTD Driver

Cobra King LTD Driver

The King LTD Driver represents COBRA’s finest technology without compromise. Created with premium materials and state-of-the-art technology, the KING LTD driver is the longest &straightest driver Cobra has ever created. KING LTD truly is The Ultimate Distance Machine.

SPACEPORT A multi-purpose, 16g weight that strategically positions weight to create extremely low CG with high MOI – the perfect combination of distance and forgiveness. The SpacePort also works as a window to view the sophisticated internal COBRA technology.

Most Drivers in the marketplace today have a Center of Gravity that is positioned above the neutral axis line. KING LTD is Cobra’s first driver to ever get it to the neutral line (Zero CG), and deliver a more efficient transfer of energy at impact without sacrificing forgiveness. What does this mean to golfers? More distance through higher Launch, less spin and more Ball Speed.

SPACE IS IN IT Through Cobra’s partnership with the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), they are able to conduct research on the International Space Station, allowing them to create the most technologically advanced golf products in the world. From this research, COBRA’s R&D team can tailor new material properties. Simply put… Cobra makes game changing technologies that will enhance the performance of all golfers.

CROWN FIT FOR A KING Cobra made a lighter, stronger crown that reduces the weight so it can be redistributed to the correct areas of the clubhead. This delivers better mass properties, thus longer, straighter shots every time.
Faster – Lighter

TeXtreme® Carbon Fiber yields a lighter crown (20% lighter than regular Carbon Fiber) allowing for more weight to be repositioned. By lowering additional weight deeper in the club head, this design helps to deliver extreme distance and greater forgiveness.

FACE TECHNOLOGY Cobra pushed the boundaries of technological advancement to create a larger ‘sweetzone’ that spans across the entire face.

Speed Channel: Speed Channel is an exclusive COBRA innovation. An engineered trench around the perimeter of the face. This design minimizes thickness and increases ball speed across the face, resulting in incredible distance.

E9 Face Zoning: Cobra R&D technology removes weight from the face to deliver a larger, more effective Sweet Zone®. This increases ball speeds for longer and straighter drives – especially on off-center hits.

Designed for the better player looking for more shot shaping control and fade bias loft settings for optimum launch and ball flight.
SPACEPORT
A multi-purpose, 16g weight that strategically positions weight to create extremely low CG with high MOI – the perfect combination of distance and forgiveness. The SpacePort also works as a window to view the sophisticated internal COBRA technology.
ZERO CG
Most Drivers in the marketplace today have a Center of Gravity that is positioned above the neutral axis line. KING LTD is Cobra’s first driver to ever get it to the neutral line (Zero CG), and deliver a more efficient transfer of energy at impact without sacrificing forgiveness. What does this mean to golfers? More distance through higher Launch, lessspin and more Ball Speed.
SPACE IS IN IT
Through Cobra’s partnership with the Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS), they are able to conduct research on the International Space Station, allowing them to create the most technologically advanced golf products in the world. From this research, COBRA’s R&D team can tailor new material properties. Simply put… Cobra makes game changing technologies that will enhance the performance of all golfers.
CROWN FIT FOR A KING
Cobra made a lighter, stronger crown that reduces the weight so it can be redistributed to the correct areas of the clubhead.
FACE TECHNOLOGY
Cobra pushed the boundaries of technological advancement to create a larger ‘sweetzone’ that spans across the entire face.
Forged 811 Titanium: The re-engineered Forged 8-1-1 Titanium E9 Face is a variable thickness structure that is lighter, thinner and hotter creating more deflection for faster ball speeds and a larger Sweet Zone® across the face.

December 23rd, 2015

Every serious golfer dreams of stepping up to the tee at one of the best golf resorts in the world. Whether it’s something you’ve dreamt about, or are actively searching for the best location for your next golf vacation, we have gathered a few of our favorites to help your dreams take shape.

The Argentario Resort, Tuscany

The Argentario Golf Resort Lobby

The Argentario Golf Resort Lobby

The philosophy of the Argentario Resort, a member of the Design Hotels™ group, revolves around the pursuit of wellness and the respect for the environment.

The luxury resort includes 73 rooms and 1 cottage with an incredible view over the golf course, Monte Argentario’s landscape or Orbetello Lagoon. Each design accommodation features a terrace and the latest technologies, and is the result of a meticulous research on materials and fittings.

Located next to Porto Ercole, this 5-star hotel is surrounded by cork-oak woods and centuries-old olive trees in Tuscany’s Maremma, home to hares, deer, squirrels, wild boars and a variety of bird species. For outdoor sports lovers, the resort offers three tennis courts, a football field and jogging trails.

The panoramic location and the elegance of the luxury resort create the ideal and relaxed setting for both fairytale weddings and business meetings or conferences.

The Golf Club & Course

Argentario Golf Course

Argentario Golf Course

The Argentario Golf Club, which hosts various of the most important golf tournaments in Tuscany and Italy, features 18 panoramic holes for a total of 6,218 metres and par 71. The course has been awarded the “Agri Cert” certification for its bio eco-compatibility, and all products used for its maintenance are completely natural.

The golf course is located in a protected natural area, only 5 minutes from the Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve and 25 km from the Parco dell’Uccellina Reserve. The Orbetello Lagoon, the sea and the hillside offer a beautiful panorama and create a microclimate that allows golf to be played at any time of the year.

The 18-hole golf course and the driving range, which were inaugurated in 2006, have been designed by the architect David Mezzacane and the professional golfer Baldovino Dassù. The holes were subsequently shaped by Brian Jorgensen: the result is a varied, spectacular and technically challenging course.

Among the 18 panoramic holes with mostly small greens, two dominate the sea and the lagoon, one is immersed in the Mediterranean vegetation, and another features water hazard running along one side of the green. A refreshing breeze mitigates the temperature and adds an extra challenge to the game which, on this course, requires a combination of accuracy and power.

See What’s New From Callaway at Budget Golf

December 11th, 2015

Callaway Golf was founded in 1982 by the late Ely Callaway, a visionary entrepreneur who operated under a simple but profound business promise: deliver superior, pleasingly different products and services. That philosophy turned what was originally a boutique manufacturer of high-quality wedges and putters into the world’s largest maker of premium, performance golf products. The Callaway mission and vision has remained the same; they passionately pursue advanced, innovative technologies that help golfers of all abilities find more enjoyment from the game.

Their 2015 releases are no exception to that philosophy, combining time-tested technology with 33 years worth of innovation.

Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver

callaway great big bertha driver

Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver

This is Callaway’s greatest combination of speed, forgiveness and distance.

The Great Big Bertha Driver is back, and it represents the next frontier in driver design. This advanced adjustable driver has a light, fast, stable chassis unlike any other driver they’ve had before. It’s a technological breakthrough, and it’s built to get the most distance for ALL golfers.

So how did Callaway make this breakthrough? They optimized the multi-material chassis to generate more clubhead speed through aerodynamics and a wide range of weight classes to suit every swing type. Callaway also developed next gen R•MOTO technology that provides the structure for a thinner face which leads to high ball speeds on center and off-center hits. And they added Adjustable Perimeter Weighting on the perimeter of the head for ball flight and dispersion control with exceptional forgiveness.

Simple Adjustability

You can quickly slide the weight to any position you want on the track. And theOptifit hosel lets you choose from 8 different configurations to tune loft, lie, and face angle.

Forgiveness and Control From Adjustable Perimeter Weighting

There’s a 10g sliding weight on the perimeter of the clubhead. We put it there to add stability, and you can slide the weight for more dispersion control to hit your drives on line. You have virtually unlimited draw and fade bias options, more additional draw bias than ever before, and you get all of this without sacrificing forgiveness.

Optifit hosel

The Optifit hosel lets you choose from 8 different configurations to tune loft, lie, and face angle.

High Ball Speed from Next Gen R•MOTO Technology

To get every last yard out of your driver, you need more speed. That’s why we put in our Next Gen R•MOTO Technology. It provides the structure for a thinner face, leading to high ball speeds on center hits and off-center hits too.

Head Speed From Our Light, Stable, Multi-Material Chassis

This is the best combination Callaway has ever had of an aerodynamic head shape and multi-material lightweight club design. It’s the key to generating higher clubhead speed through aerodynamics and a wide range of weight classes available to suit every swing type, from 295 to 325g.

Stock Standard Shafts:

  • MRC Bassara 43g (Women’s, Light, Regular)
  • Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Black 50 (Light, Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff)
  • Fujikura Evolution 665 Tour Spec (Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff)
  • Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 70 (Stiff, X-Stiff)

Callaway Great Big Bertha Fairway Wood

The Callaway Great Big Bertha Fairway Wood is a breakthrough in technology for more distance and playability, with a Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup for ball speed and a Modern Warbird Sole that makes it easy to hit. This is Callaway’s fastest fairway wood technology with the Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup, and it’s built for the ultimate in forgiveness and control.

Features & Details

High Ball Speeds From Cup Face Technology

They’re serious about giving you the most distance in a fairway wood, and we put in our Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup to show that we mean business. It’s designed for high speeds that make the ball go a long way on center hits and off-center hits.

Ultimate Playability and Control

The head is larger than our typical fairway wood, and that extra surface area leads to a higher MOI for more forgiveness. We also added our legendary WarbirdSoleplate which makes the club easy to hit from a variety of lies with a mid-launching trajectory.

Special Heavenwood and Divine Nine Options

These two clubs have a unique combination and tighter dispersion than you might get from your regular club configuration. The Heavenwood (20.5* loft, 43” shaft) and Divine Nine (24*, 42” shaft) could give you the perfect gapping for your bag.

OptiFit Adjustability

Tune the fairway wood to the settings you want to play with our 8-way adjustability. You can add loft, take loft off or adjust the lie angle to fit your swing.*

*OptiFit Adjustability not available in 7W and Divine 9.

Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond Driver

The Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Double Black Diamond Driver delivers extreme distance for better players, featuring a deeper face, next gen R•MOTO Face, and Dual Distance Chambers with the Gravity Core for optimized ball speed and shot-shaping.

Features & Details

Extreme Distance From Dual Distance Chambers

If you’re looking for a neutral or draw ball flight to work the ball with more control, pick the left or right chamber. Then set the Gravity Core up or down depending on where you hit the ball for maximum ball speed. It’s a distance turbo charger to increase your ball speed and the ultimate combination of extreme distance and shot-shaping control for the best players.

Ball Speed From Next Gen R•MOTO Technology

To get every last yard out of your driver, you need more speed. That’s why we put in our next generation R•MOTO Technology. It provides the structure for a thinner face, leading to high ball speeds on center hits and off-center hits too.

A Deeper Face, Traditional Shape and a Low Center of Gravity

The best players want a deeper face, a traditional shape and a low center of gravity to reduce spin with just the right amount of forgiveness and workability. And that’s exactly what we’re giving them with this driver. The shape of the crown, the open face angle, and the matte black finish with no distractions all suit better players’ eyes when they’re standing over the ball.

OptiFit Adjustability

Tune the driver to the settings you want to play with our 8-way adjustability. You can add loft, take loft off or adjust the lie angle to fit your swing.

Shaft Options:

  • New Aldila Rogue I/O 60 (Regular, Stiff, X-Stiff)
  • Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 70 (Stiff, X-Stiff)

Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Fairway Wood

The Callaway Big Bertha Alpha 816 Fairway Wood is designed with better players in mind, and it’s our most advanced fairway wood, providing speed and adjustability for low-handicap golfers.

Features & Benefits

High Ball Speed From Cup Face Technology

Good players already generate high ball speeds, and the Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup will generate ball speed on center and off-center shots with this fairway wood.

Tour Preferred CG Positions

Move the adjustable weights (3g and 16g) for the ball flight you want to play. When you want to lower spin put the weight forward, and when the weight is back you’ll have more forgiveness with higher launch. It can be a long option off the tee or a more playable club on approach shots – it all depends on how you want to use it.

Modern Shaping and Sole Design

A slightly larger head provides more MOI than you would expect out of an elite player’s fairway wood. The sole design provides control from a variety of lies. The matte black finish provides an uncluttered look at address.

OptiFit Adjustability

Tune the fairway wood to the settings you want to play with our 8-way adjustability. You can add loft, take loft off or adjust the lie angle to fit your swing.

Callaway MD3 Milled Matte Black Wedge

Callaway MD3 Milled Matte Black Wedge

The MD3 Milled Wedges have the versatility and selection for every shot, every course condition, and every swing. It’s the most complete wedge line that Callaway has ever created. Legendary wedge designer Roger Cleveland received extensive input from Tour players, and he used their feedback to craft the toe profile, sole and grinds of MD3Milled. And now there are even more custom options for shafts, grips, and finishes. These wedges give you everything you need to get up and down from anywhere.

3 Grinds For Every Shot, Every Condition, and Every Swing

W-Grind

A slightly wider sole. It’s perfect if you play in softer conditions or you come in with a steep angle to the ball. And it’s extremely playable out of all types of bunkers.

S-Grind

Our most versatile option. It’s great for a wide range of conditions (normal, soft, or firm). shot types and swings (moderate to sweeping angles)

C-Grind

Progressive Groove Optimization

The MD3 Milled line has Progressive Groove Optimization. A 3 groove package precision milled into the face of these wedges that optimizes spin as you up in loft. It creates a smoother spin transition from your irons to wedges. The 30V grooves in the Pitching and Gap Wedges are built for shots that require a steep angle into the ball. The 20V grooves in the sand wedges are designed for full shots and bunker shots, and we put in wider 5V grooves in the lob wedges for better control for shots out of the rough and around the green.

Advanced Shaping and Design

Legendary Callaway wedge designer Roger Cleveland took Tour input and blended that with advanced CAD design. The result is a balanced wedge with a high toe profile and a semi-straight leading edge. The weight ports in the back of the wedge gave Callaway the freedom to reposition the weight for better shot-making, especially out of deep rough.

This championship golf course on one of Indiana’s highest elevation points has narrow, immaculate fairways and rugged, intense terrain. The course has gained national acclaim for its 40-mile panoramic views of the southern Indiana countryside, three man-made lakes, “volcano” bunkers and a variety of elevation changes. Harbour Town Golf Course

Harbour Town Golf Course

Harbour Town Golf Links re-opened on September 28, 2015 after undergoing a series of course enhancements over the summer.

The greens were re-grassed with Tif-Eagle Bermuda, the same turf used on the putting surfaces since 2001. A new irrigation system was also installed with the most advanced technology in water management and control.

This distinguished golf course places a premium on finesse, imagination and shot-making, rather than strength, making it a perennial favorite among PGA TOUR players. Put your game to the ultimate test – against a collection of par threes ranked among the world’s finest and a par-4 18th hole considered one of the most feared in all of golf, particularly when the wind is blowing off Calibogue Sound.
