The Cobra S3 Driver is the latest high performance driver from Cobra and it is the first new club that has been released under the Puma ownership. I didn’t really know what to expect this year since Puma is not really a golf company with the exception of their clothing and shoe line. I was able to check out the S3 Driver last week and I was pleasantly surprised. The driver sets up well and the new sole design fits the athletic image that Cobra has been trying to capture the last few years. I have a feeling that 2011 will be a big year for Callaway. The new Diablo Octane Driver is getting excellent reviews and the new RAZR line looks stunning, although to be honest, I am still not convinced on the “RAZR” name. However, performance is what matters right? So despite the name, the new RAZR X Hybrid looks like a winner. This hybrid features Callaway’s new Zero Roll Design which helps the average golf hit high and long approach shots regardless of where they strike the ball on the club face. If your common mis-hit is low on the face, the RAZR X is for you! An aggressive VFT (variable face thickness) face design increases ball speeds across the entire hitting surface resulting in greater distance even on mis-strikes. Moderate offset helps square the face at impact while still maintaining a clean look at address.
