If you are in the market for a simple, no frills GPS units that works, check out the new Izzo Swami 3000 GPS Unit!  The Swami 3000 rings in right under $100 and is the easiest to use GPS unit on the market.  When compared to it’s little brother, the Swami 1500, the Swami 300o is already preloaded with over 19,000 courses!  This unit is ready to use right out of the box so you will not have to hassle with uploading courses or subscribing online.  This is my go-to GPS unit at our shop because it is so easy to use and I have yet to have a complaint regarding it’s accuracy.

Callaway UPRO MX GPS

Saturday, April 9th, 2011

If you have yet to jump on the GPS bandwagon, the new Callaway UPRO MX GPS may push you over the edge!  The UPRO MX is the latest GPS unit from Callaway and it is by far their best effort yet.  Perhaps the greatest feature of the MX is the price.  For just under $200 you get one of the most accurate and feature filled GPS units on the market today.  The MX is pre-loaded with over 25,000 courses from Callaway’s global database and can be easily accessed in both basic and go-mode.  The MX has a touch-screen and is about the size and weight of a modern cell phone.  The virtual green view displays distances to the green as well as the surrounding areas.  This device also features a Pro Mode model where golfers can download hi-res aerial imagery of their course and giving players a handy fly-over feature to scope out the entire hole before teeing off.  Basic mode and Go-mode are included with the purchase of the unit however the performance of the Pro-Mode is available for an additional fee.  The Callaway UPRO MX GPS is available mid-May but we are taking pre-orders now because we are expecting the demand to be quite high.

Laser Link Quick Shot Rangefinder

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

For those who play courses equipped with Laser Link reflectors, be sure to check out the new Laser Link Quick Shot Rangefinder.  The Laser Link Quick Shot is the easiest and most accurate solution to finding the exact yardages to the pin.  The Quick Shot is the only point-and-shoot style rangefinder on the market.  Not only does this make it infinitely easier to use with greater accuracy, you also wont have to remove your hat or sunglasses to use it.  The Quick Shot also features multiple feedback settings including a vibration mode that notifies you when you are locked in silently so you do not disturb your playing partners.  The patented red-dot alignment system makes finding your target easy and the large LCD screen makes the yardage easy to see.  My only complaint is that the Laser Link Quick Shot Rangefinder must be used in conjunction with the Laser Light reflectors so I am having a hard time seeing where this model fits in with their current product lineup.  The Laser Link Red Hot works at any course and it can be had for not too much more money.

Laser Link Red Hot Rangefinder

Saturday, February 12th, 2011

If you are one of the few people who still prefer a rangefinder to a GPS unit, be sure to check out the new Laser Link Red Hot Rangefinder.  The Laser Link Red Hot employs the latest laser technology to find exact measurements to pins, trees, bunkers and various other hazards that lurk on the course.  For those not familiar with Laser Link, their units are extremely easy to use and feature a wide pistol shaped handle which allows you to use it without holding it up to your eyes.  The trademark red dot alignment system makes it easy to measure your landmarks from up to 400 yards away and even 800 yards away if paired with a Laser Link reflector.  Perhaps the best feature of the new Red Hot is the vibrate mode that allows you to receive measurement confirmation silently so you do not disturb your playing partners.  I know the Laser Link Red Hot is a bit pricey, but I feel it is a small price to pay when you consider how much this rangefinder will help you hone in your approach shots.

Bushnell Neo Plus GPS

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

Looking for a simple GPS that will give you accurate yardage to the center, front, and back of the green as well as important hazards?  If so, I would definitely check out the new Bushnell NEO Plus GPS unit.  The NEO plus is the smallest and most compact GPS unit on the market and it provides quick yardages to your intended target.  Unlike many GPS units in it’s class, the NEO plus comes preloaded with over 16,000 North American courses.  No membership fees are necessary and the unit is ready to use straight out of the box.  Due to it’s ease of use, size, and affordability, I think the Bushnell NEO Plus GPS unit would make a great gift for the golfer that has it all this holiday season.
