Nike VR S Driver

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Nike’s new Nike VR S Driver is set to hit the door this February and boy are we excited!  The VR S Driver is the next generation of Machspeed Drivers and it is by far their greatest effort yet! The VR S is a tour inspired design that is built for speed! Nike ditched their original Str8-Fit technology and went for a more user friendly and less obtrusive hosel design for the VR S. The lightweight design coupled with a large, aerodynamic club head makes the VR S driver extremely forgiving and NexCOR face technology provides explosive ball speeds for greater distance.  A designed for Nike Mitsubishi Rayon Fubuki K shaft is the stock shaft offering and the driver is offered in a variety of lofts.

Cobra Big Trusty Rusty Satin Wedge

Monday, November 21st, 2011

The new Cobra Trusty Rusty Wedges are set to hit the door any day now and while we are very excited for the standard Trusty Rusty, the larger, more forgiving Big Trusty Rusty Satin Wedge has our mouths watering.  We think that the Big Trusty Rusty will be one of the best selling wedges next year because it will be the only traditional looking wedge on the market that features a larger profile and a versatile sole grind.  The Big Trusty Rusty has the same patented Tri-Bounce Sole as the standard wedge and also includes the precision laster-milled grooves for added spin and control.  The larger profile makes this wedge more appealing to the average golfer and is pretty forgiving while still offering plenty of feedback from around the greens.

Titleist Vokey SM4 Black Nickel Wedge

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

Titleist’s new Vokey Design SM4 wedges set to launch next week feature a similar shape to the previous version however they do feature a few modern improvements.  First off,  the toe is squarer which makes the top appear thinner at address and improves the overall look of the wedge. Besides this slight aesthetic change, the grooves of the SM4 wedges have been re-engineered and the scoreline space has been tightened up with the addition of more grooves.  Unlike any other cast wedge on the market, the impact area of the Vokey SM4 wedges have been heat treated for improved durability.  Once again, these Vokeys are offered in three distinct finishes and we have found the black nickel to be the most popular in terms of performance, looks, and durability.  The Vokey SM4 Black Nickel wedges are offered in a wide variety of loft and grind options that have been perfected on the professional tours over the last ten years.

Cleveland 588 Forged Wedges

Sunday, November 13th, 2011

The Cleveland 588 wedges are the gold standard by which all other wedges over the last 20 years have been judged.  That is why many golfers were left scratching their heads when Cleveland dropped this famous wedge from their lineup and many were forced to look elsewhere for their replacement wedges.  Cleveland wised up and this fall, they are re-releasing the 588 with a few modern improvements that will hopefully bring back their “#1 wedge in golf” status.  When compared to the previous model, the biggest difference is that the new 588 is FORGED!!!  These wedges are forged from select 1025 carbon steel and deliver incredibly soft, yet solid feel which is commonly sought by the game’s best players.  Other advancements include Cleveland’s patented Tour Zip Grooves which provide concise and optimal surface roughness for maximum spin and control.  The Cleveland 588 Forged Wedges come equipped with one of the best wedge shafts ever made, the True Temper Tour Concept and it features a less active tip section and provides a penetrating ball flight, superior feel, and optimal distance control.  We expect the 588 Forged Wedges to be our best selling wedge next year!

Titleist AP2 712 Iron Set

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

Titleist’s new AP2 712 Iron Set is one of the most anticipated club launches for 2012.  They were an immediate hit on all professional tours and were put in play by almost all Titleist staff players including Adam Scott, Nick Watney, Webb Simpson, and Bill Hass.  The AP2 712 is a high performance player’s cavity back and when compared to the previous AP2 710, the 712 stays true to the design mission of “Advanced Performance with Feel”  however the 712 is much cleaner in appearance and more forgiving than its predecessor.  Sleeker contours and a squarer toe makes the top line look thinner at address and the narrower sole width helps the club glide through the turf much faster.  The biggest improvement over the previous AP2 models is how forgiving the 712 is despite the reduction in size.  This is made possible by two large tungsten weights placed in the heel and toe of the club in the hollow cavity located on the sole of the club.  This greater distribution of mass to the perimeter of the club raises the MOI without changing the center of gravity location of the blade length of the club.  The higher MOI also provides greater ball speeds across the entire hitting surface for improved distance control.  The AP2 712 irons come equipped with True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts however a wide variety of options are available through Titleist’s custom department.
