Arnold Palmer Invitational

The media has been buzzing about the return of Tiger Woods however at this weeks Arnold Palmer Invitational, the King still holds the crown.  For one week out of the year, Arnie is the main focus and when his “army” comes to visit at Bay Hill, the first tent they come to is filled with memories and moments of the king that made him one of the most beloved and well-respected figures in the history of the game.  During the week’s player press conferences we were all reminded of why this is one of the tour’s favorite stops as the world’s top players reminisced about their memories and thoughts on Arnie and what he means to golf and his contributions to the game.  For once, Tiger wasn’t the center of attention and when Palmer was asked about him, he respectfully replied, “I will say that we are dissappointed that Tiger isn’t here to play.”  He then said he would keep his opinions on the scandal to himself however he did stress the importance of Tiger being more open to his fans.  The topic quickly reverted back to the tournament.  Both Arnie and the field are very excited about the course changes that have been made to Bay Hill this year.  The greens have all been redone and many of the tee boxes have been changed.  The course has gone back to a par 72 layout making it more playable for a wide variety of players to once again highlight the players shot making capabilities and not just their length.  It is too early to tell who will take home the victory this week however I have my money on Ernie Els.  He has a new found sense of confidence and appears to striking the ball quite well.  Can’t wait until the final round on Sunday!
